Red forest jewel cichlids are naturally found in the rivers and streams of West Africa, and are one of the easier cichlids to keep due to the wide range of water parameters they inhabit. Due to their aggressiveness, however, it is recommended to either keep them in a monospecies tank, or in a highly stocked cichlid tank where they cannot establish territories.
