About Comet Goldfish - Red & White

Comet Goldfish are the world's most popular type of Goldfish. Red & White Comets are a variant of Comet Goldfish, with scales in a pattern of bright white and orange-red scales.

These bright, hardy aquarium fish are perfect for beginners, and their beautiful pattern, combined with their forked tail, makes Red & White Comet Goldfish an excellent addition to your aquarium or garden pond.

While our Comet Goldfish are bred in Australia, Goldfish were originally cultivated in China over 1000 years ago, and over the centuries, have been developed into many different types all over the world. The Comet Goldfish was developed in the United States in the 1800’s and has become the most popular Goldfish among aquarium owners.

Red & White Comet Goldfish, also known as Sarasa Comets, are one of the many subspecies of Goldfish that have been bred to enhance certain qualities. They have a distinctive scissor-shaped singular forked tail with two tips, usually the same length as their entire body. With vivid colours of brilliant white and rich orange-red, and long showy tails, Red & White Comets make an attractive, impressive showpiece for your aquarium.

Red & White Comets make peaceful tankmates, and it’s a good idea to have at least two as they are traditionally schooling fish. We recommend feeding your Red & White Comets Pisces Goldfish Pellets or Flakes. Spirulina Flakes and Algae Wafers will provide valuable variety to their diet.

We’ve found that Red & White Comets, like all Goldfish, enjoy eating Duckweed, which is easy to grow in your aquarium and is available from Scapeshop.com.au.

These cold water fish thrive in water temperatures ranging from 8-23 degrees celsius, and as they produce lots of waste, we recommend good filtration and plenty of plants to oxygenate and clean the water, as well as enriching their lives and supplementing their diets.
