Scientific Name: Xiphophorus helleri

Swordtails are very attractive fish that are in the Poeciliidae family and closely related to to Platies and Guppies. They are livebearers and a great beginner fish. The males have an elongated swordshaped extension on the lower part of their tails. (Caudal fin) 

Swordfish are livebearers that originate in North and Central America. 

They benefit from plenty of live plants in their aquarium especially fine leafed plants such as Wisteria, Ambulia and Fontinalis Moss (Java Moss), which provide hiding places for the fry and increase the likelihood that babies will survive and thrive.
