About Blue Turquoise Discus 8-9cm
Blue Turquoise Discus 8-9cm
Symphysodon Aequifasciatus
Native to the Amazon and South America, discus are amazing freshwater fish that will become the star of your large aquarium. They are happiest in a school of 6 or more fish and enjoy a well-planted aquarium, ideally at 28ºC and 200 litres or over. pH can range from 5.8 to 6.5.
They prefer soft, acidic water with a low flow. Regular water changes, lots of live plants and a well-matured tank are essential.
Discus are omnivorous and like to eat live blackworms, live brine shrimp, flakes and pellets. They are calm egg-layers and can be housed with other peaceful species such as rummy-nose or neon tetra, Corydoras or Otocinclus.
